Get a grip Mr.Rehman!

Its 5 a.m in the morning, Pakistan VS Srilanka match on television and laptop on lap, the only thing missing is a cup of tea which i'll make shortly. I hope we win this match, it is very important to keep the morales of our cricket team high. Hubby has gone to a friends place to watch it, an all friends get together to watch the match...they must be having fun as its the discussion that the guys enjoy more rather than the game itself :)
It was a good day yesterday. I had invited a friend over for lunch, it was fun involving tasty food and a nice chit chat. Then i went out for a walk and the day ended up with krispy kreme doughnuts and a cup of coffee!
Except from that, there is one upsetting news that has bothered me. Its the statement that has come from Rehman Malik regarding the "Requirement of  NoC from interior ministry" by students and artists when travelling across the country.
http://www.dawn.com/2011/02/23/artists-students-can%E2%80%99t-leave-country-without-clearance-malik.html
Its such a shame. After so much already going on in our country, its the students and artists that they need to monitor??? *sigh*. Being the wife of an international student, i can very well connect to the inconvenience and trouble that it would cause to the students. Come on....you cannot have the freedom to leave or enter your own country? Isn't the Immigration process that Pakistanis have to face at foreign Airports enough to keep the students agonized and stressed? We all deserve to have a healthy state of mind rather than being fearful and disrupted all the time! Also i have come across another point that this rule is a direction violation of the 13th amendment of The Universal Declaration of Human Rights
I really hope that this rule does not get implemented as it would greatly hurdle the movement of our students and artists, adding complexity to the already convoluted system of our country. It will take our country many steps backwards instead of contributing towards its advancement. We all need to spread the word, stand up and protest against this rule before it gets too late.

A post after so long..

Its been so long since i last updated my blog. Had been quite busy lately. I mentioned in my last blog about my paternal uncle was paying us a visit. Yes, it was fun but at the same time, very hectic. We explored Austin, went to places that even we had never visited before. We went to Capitol Building of Texas. It was huge and beautiful with very interesting architecture. Even the rain couldn't stop us from our long walk at UT (University of Texas) Austin. We showed him different departments, went to my husband's workspace, my uncle had to print some documents of his. After that we went to UT Co-op (a kind of souvenir shop) to get him a memento. He stayed for two days and we were almost out that whole weekend. He had his flight on Monday so we went to Houston to drop him off at the airport. The whole trip was tiring but so much fun!
A lot have happened since then. The weather is very pleasant now-a-days, winters have almost ended or, may be not. Austin has a strange weather. Once we had -6 degree Celsius and snow. And the very next day, it was 16 degree Celsius, SubhanAllah. So who knows, there might be another cold front before the winter finally ends.
Also the Cricket World Cup 2011 has started. I have always been a mediocre cricket fan unlike my husband who is very  passionate about cricket. So since i got married, i have been following cricket very religiously. I hope our team performs well in this world cup and as they say in urdu "umeed pe duniya qaim hai" as in "world revolves around hope", so im hopeful that our Pakistani Cricket team will even win the cup and revive our 1992 world cup memories. It  performed well against Kenya today. I am looking forward to its next match on 26th against Sri Lanka, Go Green Go :) *Fingers Crossed*
I will also try to update my blog more regularly from now onwards. Lets see when i post next.
